Simple Smile Orthodontics accepts most major insurance providers, including almost all PPO’s, HMO’s and discount plans.  Dental Insurance is a convenient way to reduce the out-of-pocket expenses associated with orthodontic care.  Many programs provide orthodontic benefits that are separate from other dental benefits.

Since every provider is different, you should contact your dental insurance company to find out what benefits you have.

The plans we accept include:

Oral Hygiene

It is always important to regularly brush and floss, but carefully brushing and flossing becomes even more important during orthodontic treatment.  We recommend brushing and flossing four times a day:

  • Ameritas
  • Assurant
  • Aetna
  • BCBS
  • Delta Dental
  • Guardian
  • Humana
  • Combined Life
  • United Concordia
  • United Health Care
  • Principle Financial
  • Met Life
  • Lincoln Financial
  • Reliance
  • Compbenefits
  • GEHA
  • Solstice
  • Meritan Health

Affordable Care Act (ACA)

The ACA requires health insurance providers to offer dental insurance to families with minors.  It is optional to accept this insurance, and there is no tax penalty for not getting it.  However, it does make it easier for families to get the dental insurance that they need.

Dental Insurance for Braces

Dental Insurance coverage varies a lot.  Some dental plans cover braces for adults, but some will only cover braces for children.  If the treatment is necessary for health reasons, your plan is much more likely to provide coverage.

If you have an employer-sponsored dental insurance plan that does not cover orthodontics, you can purchase a supplemental plan to get the additional benefits.  These plans may cover:

  • Exams
  • Braces
  • Invisalign
  • Retainers

Some plans will not cover appliances that are more expensive due to their cosmetic benefits, while others will pay a flat amount towards orthodontic care and leave it up to you how you wish to spend the funds. It is worth it to spend some time researching your insurance options if you expect you may need to purchase orthodontic services. Be careful, as some plans will not cover orthodontic work if you buy the plan after you begin treatment.

Discount Plans

Discount plans are not considered insurance but do allow you to save money on treatments.  Most of these plans offer discounts on braces for children and adults.  Since many insurance providers do not cover adult braces, this is a great alternative for many patients.

Filing Your Claim

Simple Smiles Orthodontics wants to make your experience has easy and stress-free as possible.  We will estimate your out-of-pocket expense and directly bill the insurance company for their share.  If our estimate is off, your out-of-pocket cost will be adjusted.
